The following are the most asked questions we receive. If you still have a
question after reading this please contact
support@netmation.com.
If Netmation maintains my domain will I be listed as its owner?
Any public domain registration that you instruct us to host is owned by you, just
as if you had purchased it through any other ICANN certified Registrar.
We do not charge for any of these services, giving you the freedom to do with your
domain as you want, when you want.
What is a Name Server?
Name Servers are the Internet's equivalent to a phone book. A name server maintains
a directory of domain names and matching IP addresses. They use these directories to
enable computers on their networks to find web sites and other resources.
When your account is set up information about your domain name is added to our
name servers. The information is then sent from us through the central Registry
for your domain out to be used by the other name servers on the Internet. This
makes it possible for people to find and access your server on the Internet. It
usually takes about 48 hours before name servers on other networks will be able
to access the information after the Registry for your domain gets it.
What are the name servers used for sites hosted by Netmation?
Since Netmation has a wide variety of services we utilize several name servers
on the Internet. Some are hosted by partners, others are in our own offices. The
benefit to you is a wider range of services we can offer to meet a variety of
business requirements. Please contact Netmation support of the proper Primary
and Secondary DNS names to use when registering your domain.
How long before a new domain name shows up on the Internet?
New domains and changes to domains take about two days to become effective
because of the number of networks involved, and the fact that those networks are
controlled by several different agencies. This delay applies to all domains and
all Registrars, and not just those hosted at Netmation. It has to do with the way
domains work and is unavoidable. Please allow for this delay when planning web
sites or configuring a domain to work with your email.
What extensions will Netmation register for free?
.COM, .NET, .ORG, .INFO, .BIZ, .WS, .NAME, .US
Do you only use templates for web design?
All website design work is done specifically to the needs of the
individual client. This enables us to design the web pages so that
they are cross-platform browser and browser version compatible. You can
select a template or theme, that we have developed or purchased from
3rd party providers. However, when using themes, supporting your web
pages for the widest range of browsers can be more difficult due to
their reliance on specific web technologies. By using Netmation
hosting services you can be assured our servers have the necessary
software installed to take advantage of all server side controls our
developers use.
What is cross-browser compatibility?
All Browsers read HTML code differently. Many times certain browsers will
contain proprietary coding technolgies which are not implemented on other
browsers. Even though there are standard surrouneding HTML coding for web
pages what standards each browser supports is very different.
Netmation work hard to design your website so the most popular browsers
will be able to properly view your site. Netmation's own web sites are
constructed with minimal advanced HTML features to make sure all users
can easily view all our web pages.
Do you assistant in preliminary requirements planning?
Yes, Netmation has business strategy consultants to assist you in all
phases of the systems planning and design phases. Netmation’s has
staff that has previously worked on corporate wide long term systems
strategies for companies as large and complex as Texas Instruments and
Bechtel, along with a variety of smaller businesses of all sizes and
industries. Many web design engagements start solely for the purpose
of helping a business decide whether or not they should have an
Internet presence to begin with, what internal systems should be made
available on the Internet, or advice on how to enhance the web based
systems they already have.
What if my hosting requirements can not be met in your plans?
We have tried to make our plans one size fits all for most small
businesses. Netmation has the capability to provide dedicated servers
or what ever specific hosting needs your business has. However, we
have no interest in hosting content which we deem as non-professional
and will not take part in unauthorized mass mailing requirements
(i.e. spam).
Can I access my domain name with or without the WWW?
Yes. For example, you can access your domain from your browser by
going to "www.yourdomain.com" as well as "yourdomain.com". A nice shortcut
within Microsoft Internet Explorer is to just enter "yourdomain", then
holding down the CTRL press ENTER. Within Netscape you do the same
shortcut by just pressing ENTER, without using the CTRL key.
Does Netmation offer Dial-Up, DSL or Cable Internet access?

company, cable provider, neighborhood network or a dial-up connection
